They took us to see some of the touristy places around where they live -- a lake that has hippos and a beautiful waterfall. It is always great to get out of the city and see the countryside, which is really beautiful in a desert-y sort of way.
We rode boats out into the middle of the lake so we could get a better view of the hippos.
Unfortunately the hippos wanted to stay in the water (probably to keep cooler!) so we only saw their heads peeking out of the lake.
The guides who steered our boats made special gifts for the ladies -- necklaces made out of water lilies!
After the lake we headed to the waterfall, which was really beautiful.
Here's Deron at the top of the falls. Unfortunately it was really dusty that day (Harmattan strikes again) so we didn't have a very clear view of the valley below, but it was still really pretty.
The good thing about Harmattan is that the dust blocks the sun, so it wasn't too hot. It was still really fun to play in the water, though!
