Ticket Days

Every missionary has them. Those days when, if you had a ticket home, you’d be running to the airport and hopping on the next plane.

Things aren’t really that bad, but it has been one of those draining weeks that, in our weaker moments, made us think, “I just want to go home.”

Home, the place where…

* the unceasing pile of dirty dishes can get thrown into that modern marvel, the dishwasher
* we don’t have to ration air conditioning
* there’s a never ending supply of M&Ms
* you can drive cars with automatic transmission in a place with left turn signals and drivers who obey basic traffic laws
* strangers off the street don’t ask you for a place to stay and help getting a visa to the U.S.
* when you order something, it’s delivered in the time expected – or the company bends over backwards to make it up to you instead of just putting you off every day

Please don’t worry about us though -- we’ll already on the road to recovery. This verse has been an encouragement:

“Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing from God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless ...” Heb. 6:7

It still rains here almost every day so it’s a constant reminder that when things get tough, we should be producing useful crops, not thorns and thistles!

So here are some of the good things going on:

* Argentina made it to the quarter finals of the World Cup!
* Our Internet service at work got upgraded so now it’s faster
* At least we have air conditioning
* We can get Dr. Pepper here
* MB got over the cold that made her miss two days of work
* We have Skype that keeps us connected to family and friends
