Discovery of a New Food Group?

So, we all know the basic food groups: fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy, grains, and, of course, dessert ... Well, recently we discovered something heretofore completely unbeknownst to us. It could quite possibly be a new food group completely unto itself -- the prawn cracker.

We first ate prawn (a.k.a. shrimp) crackers at a Chinese restaurant in Ouagadougou. Although they look weird, we were told they taste good so we hesitantly tried them. Surprisingly, they tasted very good.

Here we discovered we could actually make them for ourselves, so we bought a box. They are the most bizzare little things. Prior to frying, they're hard, translucent circles made of ... who knows what. Our first thought was, "We're actually going to put that into our bodies?"

Within seconds of being placed in hot oil, the translucent circles become crunchy white pieces of a styrofoam-like substance. It's quite an amazing transformation.
But believe it or not, they actually taste really good! Maybe you should come visit us and see for yourself. We could introduce you to all sorts of interesting foods!

Lest you're now worried that our culinary tastes have completely gone down the drain, we assure you we occasionally do eat good things. Here's a picture of a cheesecake I made for guests who came for dinner last night. Ooh, ahh. We promise we'll make you one of these if you come to visit.

"... the prawn cracker wins again!!!*

we had some of those tasties the other day, it kinda grows on you (or, actually, with those new BMI ratings, we hope they don't!)
