Holiday Pictures
Here are some more pictures and details from our holidays and time with my parents:
Christmas Eve our missionary friends hosted a Christmas party for our neighbors, guards, office workers, etc. A huge crowd came, and lots of rice, sauce, and cookies were consumed! My mom and Jesse's mom were a big help in the kitchen, keeping the dishes clean so the next round of people could be served. We had fun visiting with friends and neighbors, including Samuel (above), whose baby dedication we attended several months ago.
Christmas Day was really fun. We spent a leisurely morning opening presents with my parents, then gathered with missionary friends for Christmas lunch (including turkey Deron brought back from America!), carols, and a highly entertaining round of "Dirty Santa" (the game where you can give and steal presents).
Much to Deron's delight, the satellite TV has shown several bowl games and also some playoff games, so New Year's Eve everyone gathered at our house to watch football. (Sorry for the blurry pictures -- we're still getting used to the fancy new camera dad gave us. We love it, though! Normally it takes really great pictures.)
In Ghana we went to a national forest that has a really cool "canopy walk." It is a series of seven rope bridges high in the tree tops. Not to sound chicken, but it was a lot scarier than it looks! But still very fun.

We had a really great time visiting with my parents. Besides the holiday activities and vacation in Ghana, we took a bateau-bus (water taxi) across the lagoon, bargained for souvenirs in artisan markets, played lots of cannasta (after a rocky start, Mom and I totally dominated!), ate Vietnamese and Lebanese food, cooked lots of goodies, watched lots of football, danced in an African worship service, and just enjoyed talking and being together. It was wonderful, and we miss them already.
