Back in Africa

We arrived back in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, on Wednesday evening. It's great to see our friends again, but we're still adjusting back to the heat/humidity and the lack of conveniences--like picking up fast food when you don't have any groceries in the house yet! Fortunately our missionary family has taken great care of us and we haven't had to cook many meals yet.

We also have a new house! A new missionary family moved into our old house, so we will be living in a one-bedroom apartment right across the street. It's open and airy and gets a great breeze because it's on the second floor, but it's a lot smaller than our old place so we're learning to adjust to the new size. (Second bedrooms are so convenient for storing all the junk you just don't want to deal with! Oh well, at least we'll be more clean and organized.)

We've already been able to greet many of our neighborhood friends, and I also went with Emily to visit some of the Hausa ladies I was visiting weekly before we left for the US. They are all doing well but I ask you to continue praying for them. Although Emily has faithfully shared many Bible stories with them, they still believe the only way to heaven is through good works, rather than through faith in Christ.

We are very sad that Emily will be leaving the field tomorrow. Her three-year term is up and she'll be returning to Texas. She's been a great friend and teammate and we will really, really miss her. Please pray for Emily as she adjusts back to life in the US and continues the job-hunting process.
