Transitioning to South Africa

This week we got our plane tickets to move to South Africa! We be heading that way April 13 on an overnight flight, so we'll arrive April 14. That's only three and a half weeks away!

We are definitely excited about getting settled into our new home and ministry, and it will be really fun to be close to my parents. But it is hard to think about leaving our friends here. This week I've been sorting through photos and have been reminded of lots of cool trips, fun parties, good friends and special memories. It's hard to say goodbye to West Africa, too.

In fact, dealing with the transition has been difficult for us this week, because we're somewhat caught between two worlds. Much of our thoughts are focused on what's to come -- our new city, our new ministries, our new friends-to-be. But at the same time we want to continue working hard here and make the most of the time we have left.

Please pray for us as we:
  • pack our stuff and decide what to keep, what to give away, what to take on the plane, and what to send in a crate.
  • say goodbye to our local church and African friends.
  • spend quality time with our missionary family, who is so special to us.
  • catalog and tag thousands of West Africa photos and video clips to share with our new teammates in Nairobi (an important but somewhat tedious task!).
  • try to maintain energy and momentum even though we're tired and our health has been a little up and down.
Thanks for lifting us up!
