Over the weekend we were able to experience a couple of special events in the life of Deron's parents church in Esquel. On Saturday night there was a Quincenera (15th birthday party) for one of the girls in the church. For Latina girls, the 15th birthday is very signficant and is celebrated with a huge party in which she is presented to her friends and family, almost as if she is a bride.On Sunday we attended a special church service in which 11 people were baptized (in a baptistry that was designed and constructed by Deron's dad). They included new Christians from among the Esquel congregation, as well as members of smaller churches and missions that were started by the Esquel church. After the baptism, we participated in the Lord's Supper. This was a very special event for the church, since it was the first time they were able to worship with all of their other works in one place at the same time.
