Commissioning

Today was our last day of classes! It's hard to believe we are almost finished. In a way it seems like we've been here forever, but at the same time we feel like we just got here yesterday.

Tomorrow is our commissioning cermemony. The friends and colleagues we've come to know and love will soon be scattered among the nations. We feel honored to be part of such a group.

After the commissioning and reception is over, we'll head to North Carolina to visit good friends Amy and Liz (yay!). Then we'll get to Mississippi on Saturday afternoon. We'll be able to briefly see Deron's parents before they fly back to Argentina on Sunday. We're also excited that we'll be able to attend our church and see our friends there on Sunday morning.

The following couple of weeks will be spent traveling back and forth between Alabama, Florida and Mississippi, visiting family/friends and getting ready to go. Unfortunately we still have a lot of packing to do. We've already packed five bags at 70 lbs each, but on Nov. 1 the airlines lowered the limit to 50 lbs. Ahhh! Now we have to repack everything.

On Jan. 4, we will finally leave for Africa. We'll be going to Burkina Faso for three months of French language study, then we'll FINALLY move to Cote d'Ivoire in early April (unless the political situation gets too unstable). It will be nice to finally be settled in our new home.
