Yesterday we made the long drive from Ushuaia to Rio Gallegos. On the way we had to drive into Chile! The only way to get from the island of Tierra del Fuego to the mainland of Argentina is through Chile, crossing the Straits of Magellan on a ferry. It was a very windy ride -- but very fun. Today we went to the Glacier National Park to see a glacier called Perito Moreno (named after an explorer who came to this area). It was amazing! The thing is huge! We saw the Argentine side, but it stretches across the mountains all the way to Chile. We almost constantly heard ice cracking and saw several pieces break off and fall.
