When in Buenos Aires, Do As The Tourists Do ...

... and go to all the places that celebrate Eva Peron, including La Recoleta Cemetary, where she is buried, and Casa Rosada (Pink House--the presidential palace) where she made public appearances on the front balcony (and where Madonna sang "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" in the movie "Evita"). We also saw many other beautiful governmental buildings, banks, monuments, and homes throughout downtown Buenos Aires. The architecture is an eclectic mixture of Italian, French, Tudor, Spanish, and who knows what other influences. After seeing downtown we drove to Deron's old school and the place where his house USED to be (it was torn down several years ago and converted to an apartment building). Tomorrow morning we will spend more time exploring downtown and will eat lunch at Las Violetas restaurant with some friends who are missionaries here. Then in the afternoon we fly south to Ushuaia, where our adventure in the Patagonia begins!
